What I love about my photography business

I often tell people that “I love photography” and “photography is my life”. But let me tell you why I love photography and why I have filled my life with it.

  1. Getting out into nature. I have always loved being outdoors. I love exploring new places. Having adventures. Watching wildlife and having unique experiences.

  2. Capturing that nature. The adrenaline rush of tracking animals and waiting for them to look the right way, and then the satisfaction when you know you got the shot. Nothing beats it.

  3. Starting up my own business has given me freedom. I don’t have to answer to anyone or do pointless tasks because someone higher up said its part of my job. I can do what I want, when I want.

  4. I can choose who I work with. If I don’t feel like someone is the right fit for me or my business, I can choose not to work with them. This means that I can surround myself with clients whom I enjoy working with.

  5. I can sell the products and services which my clients want. I can listen to my customers and act on what they say. If they are asking for a product or service which I do not provide, I know that is something I need to look into.

  6. I can work the hours which suit me. I have no-one telling me what time to start or finish, and when I can take breaks. I work from home. I start when I feel ready. I take breaks when I need to, and finish when I’ve had enough.

  7. Sharing my knowledge has always been enjoyable to me. I love when my students suddenly understand something after a quick explanation from me.

  8. Sharing my work. This gives me a big sense of pride, seeing my picture up on the wall of an exhibition hall or the feed of Instagram. Hearing people’s comments about how good the work is brings me a lot of joy.

These are the 8 reasons why I run my own business and why I am happy with what I do. In case you missed it, here is last week’s blog on the things which I don’t like about my photography business.
