Get To Know Your Camera

A six week course to teach you everything you need to know about your DSLR or mirrorless camera!

Understand Your Camera

Learn about the different types of cameras, lenses and accessories available. Memorise what the buttons do and where to find things in the camera's menu.

Master Manual Mode

Study the exposure triangle. Make use of the light meter and histogram to ensure that every photo has a correct exposure. Gain control over your focus and white balance settings.

Enhance Your Workflow

Understand how to use the playback mode to view images and metadata on your camera. Transfer your images to your computer and create back-ups so that you will never lose them.

“The camera sees more than the eye, so why not make use of it?”
— Edward Weston

Do you have a camera sitting in the cupboard that you wish you knew how to use?

Then this is the course for you! At some point you bought this camera (or someone bought it for you) because you had an interest in photography. You took it out of the box, maybe had a play with it, but soon got overwhelmed by all the buttons and different settings.

I hear you, I felt that way with my first camera too!

That is why I have created this course. So you can take the camera out of the cupboard, learn how to use it with confidence, so that you can focus on the creative side and start enjoying photography just as much as I do.

The 6 Topics We Cover

What Robyn Thought Of The Course

"Tracey is generous sharing her knowledge and expertise and is a patient tutor. I’m now using my DSLR more often rather than my phone. Highly recommend her course."

Kerry-Anne

"I loved it! it was easy to follow and made sense to me, I have 100% already learnt a few things. Looking forward to next one. The credit is to you. Its a really good course based on my first lesson. I am going to get a lot of of the and at the end produce better quality photos"

Kristen

"My favorite part of the course was learning in a comfortable, non-judgmental environment
I don’t feel like there was anything missing based on the limited time we had, I feel like it was good for beginners. I have more insight now, I feel more comfortable knowing how to properly use my camera. I would like to continue to learn and see where it takes me"

Christine

"The best thing about the course was the exposure triangle because I could never "get" how the numbers work together you explained it beautifully. I am a gem and jewellery valuer and wanted to improve my photography for the appraisal certificates I think you have helped me do that.I think the course was very worthwhile. Well Done Tracey!"

What Jill Thought Of The Course

"I have learnt more in this lesson than I did in the whole of a previous course I did."
Tracey Jones
Why should you do a course with me?

I have been a photographer for over 18 years and have a BA Hons Degree in the subject.

After completing my degree, I spent 5 years travelling through South East Asia, taking thousands of photos of people, landscapes, wildlife and even the underwater world.

I am now settled in Australia where I started up my business five years ago to teach photography and pass on my passion for it. In that time I have helped many budding photographers improve their skills and knowledge to the point that they are now taking amazing images without much effort.

I’m all about making photography fun and easy-to-learn with plenty of personalised tuition! Teaching is my passion and joy, and I aim to transmit that joy through imparting my repertoire of photography techniques on to my students.

I cannot wait to see the photos we take together!

What type of camera is this course for?

This course is designed for mirrorless or DSLR cameras, however if you have a bridge or compact camera with manual settings you will still find this course useful but may not have all the functions we talk about on your camera. If you are not sure if your camera is a mirrorless, DSLR or bridge camera please feel free to contact me and ask.

What camera brands are suitable for this course?

This course is not designed specifically for one camera brand, so it doesn't matter whether you have Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Panasonic, Pentax or something else. The general functions of all of these cameras are the same, the only difference is that things will be in different places.
